The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

As any significant awards ceremony draws close, one notices a clamor for introducing additional classifications to honor unsung work and delight the passions of followers with niche passions.

Another commentator made the case supporting a scary games classification. That would rule. The same goes for tabletop games, representing someone's personal cause. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front since similar to blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request stands as crucial and significant. The demand is this: There should be an award type for logic-based games.

Categorizing Game Types

Organizing artistic expressions is not a science; opinions vary greatly, and it will always spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. There’s a reason film award organizations steer clear of genre categories. However, it represents a necessary evil in the world of interactive entertainment, showing incredible range they hardly constitute a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Prominent interactive entertainment events presently include genre categories for Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these classifications successfully include a lot of ground, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

Different situation exists for puzzle games. No appropriate category exists to accommodate them. Consider three of this year’s best games, all very different: building puzzles from a specific release, the pulse-pounding block-matching from another release, engaging interpersonal challenges in another game. Where could they possibly go between these six categories? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

Many instances occur outstanding logic titles published annually lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match for categories like Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated completely that year
  • Another imaginative release missed out during that ceremony
  • A beloved organization game was overlooked that year
  • Only a few logic titles managed to sneak into niche award types

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often compact experiences, yet the craft behind logic titles holds tremendous importance. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as most popular titles globally and have been for an extended period.

The famous puzzle experience challenges well-known building titles claiming status as best-selling game of all time; it’s also in the running for best game of all time. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter this problem. One could readily select a field of five interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, given the need to exclude so many good games out.

To emphasize again, these are games lacking appropriate categories at major gaming awards. Puzzle game makers are working at the challenging frontier game development, creating some of essential manifestations of gaming itself. Just like movie stunt professionals, they warrant appreciation. Don't make them wait decades.
